Hello! I've just started on Enbrel. I did my second injection yesterday. I did seem to notice an improvement in the condition after the first injection - although this may well have been psychological as my stiffness and pain is as bad as ever now.

I have pinned so much on this working and I'm feeling as though it might not. I know it's early days but I wondered how long it has taken to work for others.

I think I was expecting an overnight transformation back to the person I was!!

Thank you, PaulaSmile

Morning Paula,

For me, Enbrel started to work within 24 hrs. I know it is considered unusual for it to start working so fast.

I would warn you though, its fairly common to have a bit of a flair after starting any of the biologic drugs. I always think its like the RA Monster having its last HURRAH before it gets nobbled by the drug.

Also, for me, hormones play a part in flair ups....
Hope you feel better soon- if not, check for infection at the GP and perhaps ask for a stab of depomedrome?

Jenni xx

Hi Paula

I have been on Enbrel for six years now, it is my life saver!!! Before Enbrel my CRP was 102 now it's 5.

It actually took 10 weeks for me to notice any improvement at all, when I first started Enbrel. I do have very aggressive R.A though, this disease had munched through both my knees and hips within the first 2 years!!!

I think it does vary from one person to another but the fact you have seen some progress at such an early stage is very promising. Don't give up, I did have a couple of steroid shots while I was waiting for the Enbrel to kick in, might be worth considering.

Best wishes and I have everything crossed for you. It's always a stressful time when you change to a new drug but keep positive.

Love
Rebecca
